Apple Corp. wants India to account for up to 25% of its production from about 5-7% now as the iPhone maker continues to shift its production from China.
Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce of India, stated this.
“Apple is another success story,” the minister said, presenting India as a competitive country for manufacturing.
“They already make about 5-7% of their production in India. If I’m not mistaken, they have a goal of increasing the share of production to 25%. They have released the newest models from India, made in India,” Goyal added.
